ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Meet Dr. Koshorek
Welcome and nice to meet you! I am a board-certified neurologist and fellowship trained neuroimmunologist. My experience caring for patients with neurological conditions began before my medical training when I was a home healthcare aide for a woman with multiple sclerosis (MS). She had been living with MS for over 30 years and experienced many complications as she was unfortunately diagnosed decades before treatment for MS existed. Through my experience as her home healthcare aide and friend, I learned how social determinants of health deeply impact the lives of patients living with neurological conditions. They create detours in treatment plans, quality of life, and well-being. The many lessons I learned reinforced my goal of going to medical school and becoming a neurologist prioritizing a whole-person approach
During medical school, at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, the whole-person approach to healthcare was the foundation of my training and served me well during neurology residency at Medical University of South Carolina. In addition to learning the nuance of managing those with neurological conditions and the spectrum of pathology that exists, I became chief resident. During that time, I began seeing firsthand the administrative burdens inherent and widespread in our healthcare system. During my two-year neuroimmunology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, I gained additional subspecialty expertise in the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care approach for those living with multiple sclerosis and other immune-mediated and inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system (optic nerves, brain, and spinal cord). I have been practicing in Arizona ever since combining comprehensive care, evidence-based medicine, and a whole-person approach.
Why Niche Neurology?
Optimizing health for individuals living with neurological conditions requires time and education to create a comprehensive whole person assessment and treatment plan unique to each individual and condition. I founded Niche Neurology to provide a sustainable and adaptable infrastructure that better supports a comprehensive care model that so many of us value. Niche Neurology is a direct specialty care clinic for those living with multiple sclerosis and other conditions of the optic nerves, brain, and spinal cord. This model provides more time to focus on the unique needs of each patient, increases direct communication between patient and physician, and increases transparency through straightforward billing. I look forward to helping you throughout your healthcare journey at Niche Neurology!
